Who is Shayna?

Shayna Rudd-Winters is a Philadelphia native who was raised predominately by the strong women of her family. " When you are a kid you don't realize that you are surrounded by magical women. You think it is normal for this many people to love and encourage you. As I grew up and immersed myself into our community- i saw how rare it was to be engulfed in love this way. I am both blessed and humbled being raised in this environment".

Shayna took those lessons with her to the campus of Howard University where she majored in Journalism and African American Studies earning a Bachelors of Art in 2007. " I had no clue what to do next. I could earn a Masters Degree, Become a performer, compete for Miss America ( My confidence was high after winning Miss Howard University) or become a Teacher. I chose the later two". Shayna competed in Miss America 2008 and served as a Special Education English Teacher for the Teach for America Corporation. Shayna then went on to grow The LadyDiva Corporation ( Now known as The Legendary Girl Foundation), a program for girls that empowered them through mentorship, conferences, and social emotional education. After establishing this program in Philadelphia and Washington DC, Shayna established the official headquarters in Philadelphia. Shayna went on to author (2) books for girls and women: Lady Lesson ( 2010) and Sound RED Volume 1 ( 2016).

Shayna currently serves as the Artistic Director of the Legends Academy- a counseling and performing arts school for girls and women. She is a sought after speaker, counselor, consultant and performer. As a performer Shayna has written productions for JJsmith, The Mastery Charter Organization, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated and Villanova University to name a few. Shayna completed her Masters in Mental Health Counseling from The University of Pennsylvania in May of 2018 and is now a full-time therapist at The Legends House Counseling Center.
